2021.12.07 21:18 WheeeeeThePeople PBS's Yamiche Alcindor Joins NBC News as Washington Correspondent
Yamiche Alcindor, whose journalistic profile has expanded during a recent tenure with PBS, is joining NBC News’ Washington team.
Alcindor, who is expected to start with NBC in March, will cover the Biden administration as well as the impact of federal policies on communities across the country and issues at the intersection of race, culture and politics, according to a memo from Ken Strickland, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief. She is expected to continue to work as the moderator of PBS” ‘Washington Week,” but will give up her duties at the public broadcaster’s flagship news program, “PBS NewsHour,” where she has been the program’s White House correspondent.
Alcindor is no stranger to NBC News viewers. She has been making appearances on MSNBC since 2013, and was named a political contributor to NBC News and MSNBC in 2016.
She is the latest in a string of journalists to be able to maintain multiple gigs involving media outlets. In the not-too-distant past, TV networks tended to want to monopolize their reporters’ assignment book. But in recent months, several TV outlets have devised jobs that allow journalists to keep an array of jobs. Jonathan Lemire, who was recently named the host of MSNBC’s early-morning hour “Way Too Early,” also holds a senior role at Politico. Jonathan Capehart, the MSNBC weekend anchor, has kept his job with The Washington Post.
Prior to working at “PBS NewsHour,” Alcindor worked stints as a national reporter at both The New York Times and USA Today. She has won several awards and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, which named her the organization’s Journalist of the Year in 2020. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English, government and African American studies from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in broadcast news and documentary filmmaking from New York University.
NBC and “PBS NewsHour” appear to be in engaged in a new battle for talent. Geoff Bennett, who was recently working as a White House correspondent for NBC News and a substitute anchor on MSNBC, was recently named the chief Washington correspondent for “NewsHour” and its weekend anchor — two jobs he will start early next year. He is expected to continue to work as a contributor to NBC News and MSNBC.

2021.12.07 21:18 Unlucky_Bee2490 Just got C2 Eula, how should I change my attack patterns?
I've seen people on this reddit talk about how C2 Eula allows her to take full advantage of 4 piece pale flame. I'm wondering how I should be structuring my attack strings?? This is what I've typically been doing:
Burst up: E, Q, 4N, E (hold), 4N
No burst: E, 4N, E, 4N, E (hold)
How should these be optimized? Thanks in advance!

2021.12.07 21:18 skivingsnack After the verdict is called (and depending on what it is), what do you think the public statements from the married couples will be?
Personally if it’s a guilty verdict, I feel a lot of them will be emboldened to actually cut him off and / or speak out against him— like Jill, Joy, Jinger and possibly Josiah and John-David.
I don’t have high hopes for Jessa or Jed. My expectations for Justin are in hell.
Not sure about Joe. Don’t think he’ll be rocking any boats.
Interested to hear your musings and feel free to write sample statements.

2021.12.07 21:18 vincentcamp Chance Determined Student at Top Business Schools
Demographics: * White male from NJ * Junior in private high school * Financial situation: My family is not incredibly wealthy, but my parents have been saving for college since I was born, so I have enough money to cover the cost of any college on my list. * Other special factors (first generation to college, legacy, athlete, etc.): none Intended Major(s): * Business Management * Marketing * Possibly a minor in real estate
UW GPA: 94 (My school uses a 100 point scale, but on a 4.0 scale I have 4.0) W GPA: 97 (My school uses a 100 point scale, but on a 4.0 scale I have 4.6) Rank: My school does not rank
Test Scores: I have not taken any tests yet, but I am estimating a 1400 on the SAT
AP Coursework (college coursework for transfer applicants) Sophomore: * AP Computer Science Principles Junior: * AP Computer Science A * AP English Language/Composition * AP Statistics Senior (Anticipated): * AP Calculus * AP Physics C * AP English Language * AP Psychology
Extracurriculars: * Started a hospitality business that worked with local and luxury hotels to list their properties on platforms like Airbnb and VRBO. I would market, negotiate, and sell on their behalf in exchange for a significant chunk of the revenue I brought in. I started this business in July 2021, and I have made over $50,000 to date. * When I was 10, I started a film production company. Similar to my hospitality business, I worked with local companies and individuals to film, edit, and market videos for them. This business took off significantly during COVID because many businesses did not have the money to hire a professional videographer. However, I have recently started departing from this business since I make much from my hospitality business. On average, I make $3000-$5000 per year from this business. * Official videographer at my high school. I am responsible for filming, editing, and marketing videos for my school for their social media pages. * President of Broadcasting Club as a freshman and sophomore. This club streamed all of my schools' sports games while simultaneously commentating on the games. * Had a YouTube channel as a freshman, on which I was able to amass over 10,000 subscribers and made $4000 in ad revenue. However, due to my school's strict social media policies, I was forced to quit the channel. * Stock market investing: I started investing at 15. I started with a single brokerage account where I placed about $3000 of my YouTube earnings into (the rest of my earnings go into various retirement accounts). Now, that $3000 is worth a little over $16,000. While I am aware the majority of that was due to luck and no actual skill, I felt it was worth mentioning. * Manager of the basketball team.
Volunteer work: * Overall, I have had over 1000 hours of community service since my freshman year. A large portion of that was video work, but I have done additional work as well. * In May 2021, I created a video for my local school's class of 2021. This video took over 500 hours to complete and I did not receive any payment (This was intentional as I wanted to give back to my school). * In 2020, I worked with a hospital in Massachusetts to assist suicidal teens struggling with depression.
Awards: * Airbnb Superhost * VRBO Premier Host * AP Scholar with Distinction * Head of School Honors * National Honor Society
Essays/LORs/Other: I have a handful of teachers that I plan on asking for recommendations: Computer Science Teacher (10/10) Head of Marketing (10/10) Business Teacher (9/10) Theology Teacher (9/10)
Schools including Safety, Match, Reach (include ED/EA when applicable)
ED 1: NYU Stern, Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business, or Wharton School of Business
ED 2: Villanova School of Business
Others (Will most likely do EA for all): Notre Dame Georgetown University of Virginia University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill University of Southern California Boston College Boston University Babson College Northeastern Northwestern Pepperdine University of Miami Lehigh University Bentley University
Safeties: Dickinson College American University College of the Holy Cross George Washington University
Additional Note: While I am fully aware that my SAT is well below the average of most of these colleges. However, I am hoping that the rest of my application gives me a chance of acceptance. I appreciate any feedback, just keep in mind that I am already aware that is SAT is my Achilles heel.

2021.12.07 21:18 EmbarrassedDare6031 Happily every after
I’ve been thinking of you lots and I wonder how long I’ll feel this way. You honestly seem like my dream guy from what I know, so I’m thinking of you lots.
Maybe I would be okay starting a family with you. HEY that’s an understatement. I don’t want to try to hard or come off as creepy but I don’t give a fuck anymore. You’ll never see it anyways.
I don’t know you well but I know I want to be your wife I want to have your kids and I know you feel the same. This is the happily every after I fucking deserve.

2021.12.07 21:18 Coffee2wine Shiv’s potential pregnancy
While Shiv determines how best to weaponize her potential reproduction, I’m so glad she isn’t inadvertently pregnant as a plot device to explain her actions or remove her from contention as a successor. I know there has been a lot of conversation about whether she is a fully fleshed out character, or a foil for the men, or just an outcome of parental abuse. Already, Kendall and Roman routinely reduce her to just her sex. So when I saw her declining drinks, I was concerned she would be reduced to her pregnancy. I hope if she becomes pregnant that she will become more complex, not less.

2021.12.07 21:18 highbrowalcoholic Historically, the most influential political writers have been white men, as everyone else was (is) marginalized. "History of Political Philosophy" courses thus reproduce the same narrow view they investigate. Who would you include in such a course, to add the extra dimension of ignored thought?
I'm coming to the end of a crash-course on the history of political and economic thought that has stretched from Plato to Milton Friedman, through Aristotle, Cicero, Machiavelli, Grotius, Hobbes, Rousseau, Locke, Tocqueville, Montesquieu, Smith, Burke, Mary Wollstonecraft, J.S. Mill, Herder, Hegel, Marx, Kautsky, Lenin, W.S. Jevons, Alfred Marshall, Durkheim, Weber, Carl Schmitt, Ortega y Gassett, Keynes, Hayek, and Joan Robinson.
Two of those people are women, and all of them (except maybe Plato and Aristotle) are white.
These people are, in the course director's eyes, a handful of the most influential writers that have shaped what "the world today" is. And that may well be true. But there's something else at play here: history has been mightily bigoted, and "the world today" has been shaped by a very narrow set of experiences.
To make that narrowness visible, I think one needs to set the "influential writers" in a wider frame of thought in their historical period — to see who else was writing at the time but wasn't as influential because they didn't benefit from fitting into bigotry's box. For example, while Keynes was very influential, his ideas were very influenced by Karin Kock-Lindberg, a Swedish professor and economic minister in government. Or, while Lenin was interpreting Marx and writing about colonialism as capitalist expansion, W. E. B. Du Bois was arguing that capitalism is the primary source of racism.
So who would you pick? Even if they weren't published during their lifetime, and their thought has only recently been recovered: how would you add the extra dimensions and perspectives to "here's how a bunch of white guys influenced each other to create the world today"?

2021.12.07 21:18 aegrotatio I'm looking for LED lamp brands with a long-term supply of replacement bulbs. I'm tired of LED bulbs that start flickering two months after the warranty expires.
These lamps state they last 20 years but how does that make any difference if the electronics die within two years? I need a reliable brand with a reliable longevity supply of replacement bulbs.
